Memorial Day Weekend 2020 @ Greenleaf

Welcome to Brownwood’s Historic Greenleaf Cemetery. The dedicated Greenleaf groundskeeping crew and volunteer Board Members work diligently year round to honor all who are laid to rest on this sacred land. We pay special tribute this weekend to the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

“Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2020 occurs on Monday, May 25.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.”

Mother’s Day 2020

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 4th annual Greenleaf Mother’s Day Butterfly release has been postponed. While the postponement is disappointing to us all, we do hope you visit the cemetery and fondly reflect upon all Mothers laid to rest at Greenleaf. No matter the season, the dedicated Greenleaf grounds crew are working tirelessly to keep the grounds in great shape for your visits.
