Attention: Due to excessive heat, and the dangerous conditions such heat brings, the Greenleaf Cemetery Association groundskeeping crews will be working from 6am to 3pm on days forecasted with a 100+ heat index. These early hours will allow GCA perpetual care workers to catch up with weedeating around headstones in much better and safer conditions! These are extreme times for anyone working outside and we will do everything we can to continue to progress Greenleaf forward with safety in mind!
Thanks to the recent quick action of the GCA Board, Staff and City of Brownwood Officials, the Greenleaf Cemetery grounds have remained open, although barricaded in several areas, during normal operating and posted hours! The GCA is very thankful to the City of Brownwood for the much needed financial assistance! We are also thankful our fellow non-profit neighbors at the CTSAS are getting a much needed new HVAC System! These type of emergency issues are often beyond the financial capabilities of the local non-profits!

Note: Dead tree removal begins Monday morning at Greenleaf!
City Council on Tuesday also approved a budget amendment in the amount of $9,000 to Greenleaf Cemetery for tree trimming.
“The Greenleaf Cemetery Board has requested assistance in removing dead tree limbs and trimming trees at the Cemetery. Neither the Cemetery nor the City has staff, equipment, or expertise to reach the taller branches and remove limbs without damaging gravestones and monuments. The Cemetery solicited quotes, and the low quote was from H&H Tree Services for $9,000. Tt\he City will provide the funds to Greenleaf Cemetery to engage the contractor and the City will remove the limbs from the Cemetery, once trimmed.”
